Abstract
Sieving Is An Important Step In Spice Powder Processing Because It Helps Obtain A More Uniform Powder And Removes Relatively Coarse Particles. Manual Sieving Needs Continuous Physical Effort And Becomes Difficult When The Quantity Of Material Increases. This Paper Presents The Design And Fabrication Of A Low-cost Automatic Rotary Sieving Machine Developed For Practical Spice Powder Processing. The Machine Uses A Three-phase AC Motor With A Rated Power Of 0.6 KW And A Rated Speed Of 910 Rpm. The Motor Drives A Shaft And Rotating Bracket Directly, While A Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Is Used To Control The Operating Speed. The Fabricated Prototype Was Tested In Three Trials. During Operation At A VFD Setting Of 20.8 Hz, The Machine Processed Approximately 50 Kg Of Spice Powder In 30 Minutes, Corresponding To A Nominal Throughput Of Approximately 100 Kg/h Under The Observed Condition. The Prototype Was Built Mainly From Reused Components From Older Machines, While The VFD/controller Was Purchased At A Cost Of Approximately Rs. 9,000. The Work Focuses On A Simple Mechanical Arrangement, Reduced Manual Effort, And Practical Use For Small-scale Spice Processing.
