Abstract |
Antimicrobial resistance has significant concern to public health. Controlling of antimicrobial resistance requires accurate and timely detection of drug resistance, followed by appropriate antimicrobial treatment and management. Microbial resistance is detected by antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) of various techniques such as disk diffusion, agar dilution broth macro dilution, broth micro dilution and a concentration gradient method. This article reviews various AST techniques, their benefits and drawbacks for better utilization in microbiological laboratories. |
