Abstract |
Buccal patches are the kind of dosage form. The dosage form has different course of administration through the buccal mucosa for systemic drug delivery. Through the internal jugular vein the drug directly leads to of systemic circulation. The drug bypass from the hepatic first pass metabolism provides high bioavailability. At oral cavity the bioadhesive films releasing topical drugs in a slow and predetermined rate. In over traditional dosage forms the patches provide good therapeutic action for treatment of many diseases. Patches are non-dissolving thin matrix modified releasing dosage form. It is easy to administer for unconscious and less co-operative patients. Solvent casting method is used for the preparation of patches. The purpose of the present work is to provide a review of various aspects of buccal patches as a suitable drug delivery system. |
