STABILITY OF RIVLIN-ERICKSEN ELASTICO VISCOUS FLUIDS IN A UNIFORM HORIZONTAL MAGNETIC FIELD

Abstract

This paper analyzes the stability of a plane interface separating two superposed visco-elastic fluids in a two dimensional horizontal magnetic field. The dispersion relation is derived employing the normal mode technique and has been solved numerically for different values of the physical parameters involved. It is found that viscosity and visco-elasticity all have a stabilizing influence on the growth rate of unstable mode of disturbance.
