Abstract

Since the Lean thinking and Line Balancing techniques have been developed there has been a tendency to view them in a progression and in isolation. The use of Line Balancing and Lean Manufacturing has to be applied considering market knowledge and both are best suited to satisfying fluctuating demand. Lean Manufacturing requires a level schedule. This view is supported by consideration of an industrial example in this paper.
